regarding our SL project right, Ling kwang home has replied and asks whether we will be able to start our visitation on the 5th and 7th of november which is the a monday and wednesday.
As i have mentioned, I do not need all 25 students to go down for visitation altogether. So i need you to tell me you will like to go on the 5th or the 7th ASAP~(cos i still have to confirm about whether we will be going as there are overwhelming people who applied to have their SL there).

Basically, we wil be split into 3 or 4 groups to assist the Rehab staff in the areas of interaction with the residents, pushing residents on wheelchairs, playing ballgames and conducting structured exercise for the old folks.
In summary,

Venue: Ling kwang home
Starting date for SL: 5th or 7th Novemeber.
(so the day you choose to start would most probably be the day you wil continue for the rest of ur SL.)
Time: 1-4pm
Duration: (sorry, yet to confirm, but around 2 to 3 months)

Please SMS me which day you prefer by Tues, 31st October 2007. Thnks alot.

Just a note, i hope you all won't treat SL as something you do to get the SGC (i know most of 1107cians wont) but rather, enjoy the moments you can get to spend with the residents. We will grow old one day, we will then like people to talk to us, be with us right. So I hope everyone will be commited into the SL and lets finish it as a class!

Hi Hui Yi

Thank you! Many thanks for joining us on this experiential journey of learning and growing in the spirit of joy and love; as a true testament of Non Mihi Solum… I believe your faith in leading your class to embark on this Community Service Project as their first and as the beginning of many more interaction opportunities with the Ling Kwang Home elderly will be richly rewarded. And the many experiences you will enjoy in your future visits will see your class even more strongly bonded; as one and with the elderly.

We certainly hoped that you guys have enjoyed this trip as much as the elderly had. There are so many of you we are grateful for; in so many ways that you guys have risen above the occasion to look beyond yourselves, to opening your hearts and bringing so many smiles to so many of us. As a class and through each individual’s interaction, you guys have certainly created a welcoming atmosphere of warmth and lovingkindness. Your enthusiasm and grace have certainly made a sparkling difference for that moment in their lives. I believe in time, as you continue in this walk of loving and caring, you will be greatly enriched and deeply blessed; as you feel their hearts, as you touch their lives.

what I learn from CDP (sandcastle building)

• apply more sun tan lotion when you are out in the sun for a long time..if not, you would still be barbecued
  
• the alley area got a lot of cockroaches
  
• friends are very impt. they help u hold the door when the toilet door is spoilt.
  
• the drinks there cost around 20% more than those sold in school

but most importantly...(the un-crapy things)

• working as a team
  
• encouraging each other
  
• generating ideas of how to build the sandcastle...

and LAST BUT NOT LEAST

• learn how to build NICE sandcastles...

Okay i will start with what i feel about the CDP..
You all know right, end up our castles is totally different from what the plan, dun have all the 4 different buildings. But have our class the podium instead.
That time DE camp our castles are also different from the plan. i think the learning point for this is that we should never just keep sticking to plan larh, like at certain time, planning is just a guide for us not be lost on our way..What's important is that we must innovate during the process and stuffs and perservere on.
And i really enjoyed myself that day! Although all our faces are like cooked prawn TAT RED! but i believe in one way or another we have bonded much more i hope?

i have asked zhijun to scan the planning for tml CDP and when she sent to me, i will post it up here for u all to have some rough idea.
theme: "no AJCians left behind"
Basically, we will have this center piece which is the "bridge" of the building.
we wil be building 4 blocks, the science block,mathematics block, humanities and PE block.
so right,all of us will be building the center piece together...the AJCbridge while the different group will do the different blocks.

yea its esther again.
tml CDP is at east coast park near the east coast lagoon food village.
for those who know how to go and is not meeting us, you meet us straight at the east coast lagoon food village. When u reach le then call either me, vivian or malikka.
dress code: Aj base shirt. preferably AJ pe shirt. But if you want to get a tan, if i am not wrong the Aj singlet (old pe shirt) is allowed. Slippers and sandals are preferred.
Things to bring:
1) 1.5litre water bottle. (if you are worried that its going to be heavy, bring an empty one and fill there)
2)Towel
3)Extra clothing
4)Sunblock
The weather is going to be very hot, so pls pls do remb to bring the bottle and hydrate yourselves during the course of building the castle. We do not want to be sick during our OP do we?Also, in prevention of heat stroke or similar things from happening,i wish to encourage you guys to conduct mini water parade at home tonight.
Where to meet:
For those who do not know how to go there. PLs meet 7.20SHARP at BEDOK MRT CONTROL STATION. As we stil needa to take a bus and a short walk across underpass and stuffs, please do not be late.
Attendance will be taken for tml, and if i m not wrong ms leong will be there tml. either morning or afternoon, it wont look nice if our class has got to little people.
I will post the groupings for the sand castle building later.

hey hey darlings from 1107,

a gentle reminder that tomorrow is our event in collaboration with the smu.
pls be in school at 12.30pm as the bus will arrived at 1pm.
Lets meet at the foyer.
bring along the things that Mingjie told us to bring and have ur lunch before coming!=D
oh, i will be buying apples for the old folks tml and i will just take from the class which is for now still a +ve value.=D
wear pe shirt and any decent shorts.
Those who have any oldies that we can play during our trip on the bus please bring it along k? since i think no one is able to perform(like sing a song or something) we will at least keep them entertained with the songslarh? maybe can sing along with them.
